This is a rough draft post. I’d love to say I’ll fluff it out but… my track record suggests otherwise. If you’re seeing it in this state and it’s not November, my track record holds. What can I say, I’m consistent! haha.
Below, find a schedule for semi-weekly primary-school science lessons for the month of November. A homeschool unit for November about – you guessed it – food. Note that this could easily be spread out to 4 or 5 days a week instead of 2! But we only do science twice a week in order to have time for social studies and extra curriculars.
- Intro to Chemistry
- Okay, today is pretty video heavy, but I feel like first graders need a whole lot of scaffolding for an intro to chemistry because for the most part, chemistry kind of just happens around them and they’re not super aware it is happening. The goal for today’s lesson is to learn 3 vocabulary words. What is Chemistry, What is Matter, and What is a Chemist?
- Scishow Kids Fizzy Soda Experiment
- Binogi Importance of Chemistry
- Crash Course What’s matter? or Miacademy What is matter?

- Fold a paper in fourths and write Kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, and garage on each section. Then discuss with your kid what science might happen in each room. Write or draw your answer.
- Now on to the fun part! Scishow Make Your Own Ice Cream
